It was Pilates. I haven't done that in, probably, six months. And I haven't exercised at all in, like, 3 (I've swum laps a few times, though). So, I was not prepared. And now I can't move. It is a miracle my little fingers are wiggling enough to type this out. But I was right about the hilarity of the class (see last post). The instructor is one I have regularly, so we know each other's names and hang out a bit outside the classes. She's been hollering at me to get my butt back up there. So, I do. EVERYTHING was working against me going since I didn't really want to go. I'll list them, and I'll just let you know now that ANY ONE of these things would have totally stopped me from going at any time:
I didn't have clothes - I went home and got them
I didn't have my gym card - I used my license (that means I don't get a locker)
I couldn't find shoes for Char that weren't filled with mud - she wore muddy shoes
I couldn't find a bottle or pants for Gabe - bottleless onesie, unsnapped, mind you
I was late - got over busting into a peaceful workout 15 minutes into it, stepping over everyone on their mats to get my own, stepping back over everyone to find a spot RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE MIRROR AND NEXT TO THE INSTRUCTOR
I stepped in mud outside - muddy bare feet in class.
That last was actually the biggest one. This is a barefoot class. Everyone's bare feet are up in the air or pointed at you. The teacher, Leanna, who was staring at them for the first few exercises, finally said, "What is ON your feet?" I just kept single leg stretching and said, "I stepped in mud." She had already called me out when I got there late, "Oh my gosh, is that JENNIFER?" I have to say, she is my very most fave instructor I've ever had. Ever.
So, I overcame the whelming odds. I giggled every time I saw my black-bottomed feet in the mirror up against all those pink scrubbed feet (including 2 men's which is a first in that class for me). I rewarded myself with 13 peanut butter cookies and a liter of rootbeer for dinner (oh, and McDonald's for lunch, and I am NOT talking about salad.) Man, I am SO into physical fitness!!!
