Last night, after we put the kids to bed, Claire came downstairs complaining of a tummy ache. (Look how funny that word looks when you make it compound: tummyache. Looks like you say tummi-yotchie.) She has done this pretty often lately, so I felt concerned. I asked her, "Tell me what it feels like." She said in a small serious voice, "It feels like snuggling a grown-up." Awwww!
So, then Charlotte came down, and I told them they could stay up and watch "Dancing With The Stars" until Daddy got home from Scouts. Charlotte, constantly analyzing, was trying to spit out some sort of commentary on the program, and then she popped out with this (the babbling is an approximation, but it is pretty typical of her), "well, I mean, it's actually, Mom, do you know, it's like, I mean, um, um, that, um, like, the girls and the boys, like, um, on this show, Mom, the girls and the boys, like, actually......what are lips for?" I laughed out loud! That usually upsets her, but I think even she was surprised that question popped out. We all gave suggestions as to what lips are for.
Me: smiling, holding your food in your mouth, making "O" and "B" and "P" and "F" sounds
Charlotte: making silly faces like this, followed by a fish face
Claire: kissing your prince (pronounced "plince")
