So, I just found out for sure that my kids' Christmas presents will not be here on Christmas. I ordered them on the fifth. Yep. Eighteen days ago. Due to a couple of hang-ups, they aren't even ready to ship!
So, what do I do? I am pretty adamant about only giving them one gift. But NO gift on Christmas morning is sad, even to me. (Actually, we didn't give them anything at all 2 years ago, but they were too young to notice. I had just had Gabe!!!) Besides, what would I get? How much money am I actually going to spend?! WHY do I have to go out and try to shop 2 days before Christmas when I was SO SO responsible and finished it all early!? NOW I feel sorry for myself and my kids.
Now, my sisters might tell you that my kids aren't missing much anyway b/c they are only getting hooded bath robes (monogrammed, mind you). But, my nerdy little kids will go ballistic over them. They love that sort of stuff! But, unlike a toy, robes a week later don't carry as much bang.
I can't believe that I feel so morose over it. I feel gypped. (Is that how you spell that word?) I had another present go down the same way, but if it doesn't get here on Wednesday, the lady will drive it to me. It was supposed to ship here from HOUSTON, and yet...
But how could I get my Christmas shopping done any earlier than I did? I mean, the fifth! I'll tell you what - I had no trouble at all receiving orders from amazon.com and ebay.com. Maybe that's the key. Just stick with those big-name online stores.

I don't know. I ordered most of my stuff from target.com this year and as you know half of that hasn't even shipped yet. I know I would enjoy a monogrammed bathrobe and so would my kids, they must be related....
Maybe since you didn't get them anything 2 years ago, you can chalk it up to a belated present (thus allowing yourself to do 2 presents this year without feeling like you broke a rule) and just spend 20 bucks on each kid on something simple. Anything would keep them occupied for a week. I got my kids magnadoodles and one of those waterdoodle mats. You could even get one waterdoodle mat with extra pens and make them share that until their real gifts come. Or books, my kids like books, so maybe you could do books to satisfy the christmas need. Or a game, something they could all play together. Or some sort of building set, legos or kinex. Ooo, art supplies are good. They have so many fun different art/craft crap out there.
I'm sad for you especially that you have to go out 2 days before to try and shop. I have to go get a few things too and I refuse to go alone, Brian has to come with me. Besides the freakin' snow I just don't like being in crowds which I am assuming are out there, but I don't know for sure. I never go shopping this late. I only need some stocking stuffers, but still...
Oh do you fill their stockings? You could just get them some stuff for stockings and seeing as they know about Santa and all you could just explain to them that the gift is still coming.
Or you could go for mean and just get them coal....hahaha.
Seriously, speaking from a true fan - you can't go wrong with Amazon.com - I have stuff HERE that I ordered for after Christmas.
Sorry - I'm in hiding! I have to renew a prescription at Walgreens tomorrow and I am so averse to crowds I will probably pick it up at 3:00am - I am pretty sure there will not be a crowd (and they are open 24 hours).
I love ordering things online because it is easier, but I always have problems. I just got one of mike's present for his birthday (I order it nov. 11 and his bday was dec. 1) a week ago! That was still amazing.
Oh and I LOVE that you are getting them bathrobes. That is the cutest thing ever and I know they will LOVE them!
I hope you can figure something out. If you need a babysitter, let me know.
So this comment has nothing to do with your post. (Although, I'm so sorry the internet failed you. Your kids seem pretty down to earth, though, so I'm sure they'll be fine with whatever you decide.)
I just realized that the snowflakes on your blog were made by your kids and they are a billion times better than anything I could do. I fail at snowflakes!
That just sucks. I hate when stupid people/companies ruin gifts for Christmas. (I'm in a bad mood after traveling all day-- can ya tell?)
I can't believe that Jen. Just get them something cheap. I bet a lot of things will be on sale. Merry Christmas.
