My parents gave us a surprise party for our 16th birthdays. You can see that I would still be surprised b/c we didn't know as of yet that it would happen to each of us. By Liz, though, you'd think it would be hard to pull off. As a matter of fact, Mom managed it with her, but she can tell you about that if she wants. We are talking about me, here.
I went home with my friend Danna after school, or was it a Saturday? I think it was after school. Anyway, we hung out, and then she brought me home. I was clueless. It really is something to receive a surprise party. I loved it. I had a boyfriend, but it wasn't exactly my birthday, so I couldn't go out with him yet. I had to wait maybe 2 or so days for my first date. Laser light show at the planetarium.
Boy, I loved this party. My family and my cousins were there in addition to friends from church and school. I felt pretty popular that night. Don't ask me why we look so bored in the picture. I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that the whole time.

wow... just wow!
How awesome is your mom to do that for you when you turned 16!!!!
I keep coming back to this picture and thinking:
"wow, I'm sure I was uncomfortable at this party because I felt fat and ugly"
and I was neither fat nor ugly. I totally had pretty hair and super high cheek bones.
i don't even look fat standing between Melissa and Dana.
Wow.
perception, huh?
I am so glad that you see that you were not fat nor ugly, but in fact quite lovely. You have always rocked the hair - you may never argue with me on that. Perception indeed. I keep coming back to this picture, too. It was probably the hardest one for me to post. One thing I'm learning to do through all these birthday posts, though, is just appreciate the way I look right now and give myself the benefit of the doubt that it isn't as bad as I percieve it to be. Meaning my face, mainly.
Incidentally, I came across quite a few pictures of us from the day. It was a pleasure.
